A stock solution of 2NapFF (20 mg/mL) was prepared by dissolving the solid gelator in 0.1 M NaOH. This solution was then stirred overnight until a homogeneous solution is observed.

The following morning the solution is pH adjusted to 10.5 using 1 M NaOH. The solutions were then pH adjusted to pH 7 using 2 M HCl, taking care to break down any lumps.
Aliquots of the 2NapFF solution (20 mg/ mL) at pH 7 (1 mL) are prepared before an equal volume of DMEM was quickly pipetted into sterilin vials and vortexed using a vortex mixer, lab dancer VWR for 5 seconds.

The samples are left on the bench until a self-supporting hydrogel is formed. Different media will require different gelation times.
